Toyota Motor Corp. was elected as Official Partner at the 2020 Olympic-Paralympic Games which will be held in Tokyo, Japan.
As an effort to succeed in its involvement, Toyota held a series of activities globally, called 'Start Your Impossible Campaign'.
For the Asia Pacific region, the campaign has begun on September 13, 2018. In this activity, the campaign implementation in each country has been prepared, including Indonesia and Singapore, called the Hero Project.
PT Toyota-Astra Motor Executive General Manager, Fransiscus Soerjopranoto, said that the Olympic & Paralympic Games were a moment to tell the world about the direction and purpose of Toyota in the future, which is to create something that is impossible.
"Start your impossible campaign is a spirit to bring mobility for all, where Toyota is committed to creating vehicles that can provide more value to the community, to move towards mobility in the future," said Soerjopranoto, Thursday, September 13, 2018.
For Toyota, competitors are no longer the ones who make cars, but those who make or create technology.
Starting from a weaving machine company, in the spirit of continuous improvement and respect to the people, Toyota is moving into a leading automotive company by creating new technologies.
Being a pioneer of hybrid cars, fuel cell technology and autonomous vehicles such as i-concept and human robots, Toyota is the first manufacturer to launch and market hybrid technology-based environmentally friendly cars through the Toyota Prius in 1997.
Now Toyota is listed as the largest producer of hybrid cars because it managed to create sales figures above 10 million units.
Toyota is also the first manufacturer to produce and market hydrogen fuel cell vehicle (FCV) cars through the launch of the 2014 Toyota Mirai.
This car received a positive response, and its sales are projected to reach 300,000 units by 2020.
Toyota believes that the hydrogen-fueled FCV car will have a major contribution to achieving the Toyota Environment Challenge 2050 target of reducing CO2 emissions by 90 percent from the 2010 level.
